Melon HK – Street Scenes

The Melon HK event this year was a great success, where it brought together award-winning and emerging science fiction writers from around the world to share, brainstorm and be inspired. You can see the final artwork which was used for the event in this post. Continue reading “Melon HK – Street Scenes”

UTGP 2017

The winners of Uniqlo’s UTGP (Uniqlo T-shirt Grand Prix) 2017 have finally been announced after an excruciating wait. Though I didn’t manage to win the judges’ hearts with my submission, the design was fun to make, and it also brought back a lot of memories of playing Pokémon Red on my Game Boy.

I wanted to celebrate the history of Nintendo, where its roots came from since the beginning in 1889 in Kyoto. The logo on the front is the first logo of Nintendo, with the frame of the design inspired by the design of the original Game Boy’s screen. Accompanied by Pokémon characters, the characters who have grown up with a lot of us since its release, dressed in traditional Japanese garments.

The design is an amalgamation of Nintendo’s cultural Japanese roots as well as Pokémon’s strength in inspiring such a long-standing love amongst young and old alike.
Many congratulations to the winners!

Virtual Plein Air – Higashiōsaka, Japan

A nice break in-between working on Project Samurai and some other work, I like to do some spitpaints or Virtual Plein Air from time-to-time. This one was no exception – in this case, I wanted to see how much I could put in in an hour or two as a pre-sleep painting^^ so it was a test to see how much I can observe and convey, in both blocks of colour, as well as details if time allows.

On a side note, I’m doing some cleanup of tags & categories because they’ve been bugging me for ages, so hopefully there will be a cleaner and more efficient navigation at some point in the near future! ٩(◕‿◕。)۶

Inner Citadel – Colour and Amendments

So from the previous sketch of Project Samurai’s Inner Citadel, I’ve made some improvements to the painting and added colour – wahey! 🙂

With the current work I’ve been doing in the background (more news on that will be coming soon), I’ve gotten into Cyberpunk and Futuristic landscapes quite a bit, so it seemed natural to create something along those lines, and darn it, it was so fun to do.

Inner Citadel – Sketch

Sketch before bed – starting to work on Project Samurai a bit after a hiatus to work on other paintings. Which is quite nice as it brings a new perspective to it after being away from the project.

Feeling refreshed and ready to go 💪
